God Works in the Waiting

Scripture Focus: Isaiah 40:31
"But those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint."

Embracing the Season of Waiting
Waiting is hard. Especially when you're praying, hoping, and trusting for something that hasn't yet come. It could be a job, a relationship, healing, clarity, or breakthrough, whatever it is, the waiting can feel like a wilderness. But what if this season isn't wasted? What if God is doing more in the waiting than you can see? Waiting is not a passive posture, it’s a sacred space where God does some of His deepest work in us.

Waiting Is a Place of Strengthening
Isaiah 40:31 reminds us that those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength. Not lose it. Not drain it. But renew it. God doesn’t call us to wait so that we’ll break, He invites us to wait so that we’ll build. Build trust. Build hope. Build endurance. And most importantly, build relationship with Him. In the waiting, we learn to stop striving and start surrendering.

What If Waiting Is a Gift?
We often view waiting as a delay or punishment. But in God's hands, waiting is preparation. It is during these seasons that we are stretched, matured, and invited to lean into His presence in new ways.
Here’s what waiting can teach us:
  • Patience is a form of faith. It says, “God, I trust You, even when nothing is happening.”
  • Peace is found in surrender. It doesn’t come from controlling the outcome, but from releasing it.
  • Purpose is revealed in stillness. Sometimes what God is doing in us is far more important than what we’re waiting for.

Reflection:
  • What are you waiting on God for right now?
Write freely about the hopes, longings, or unanswered prayers you’re carrying. Then, reflect on how God might be working in you while you wait.

Affirmations for Patience and Trust:
  • I trust that God’s timing is always perfect.
  • In my waiting, God is working behind the scenes.
  • This season has purpose, even when I can’t see it.
  • I am not forgotten. God sees me and is strengthening me.
  • My hope is in the Lord, and He will renew my strength.

Prayer Thoughts:
  • A Prayer of Trust in the Waiting: Lord, I don’t always understand the waiting, but I choose to trust You. Help me to find peace, purpose, and hope in this season. Remind me that You are near, even in the silence.
  • A Prayer for Strength: Father, renew my strength when I grow weary. Lift me like wings on eagles and help me to walk forward in faith, even when answers haven’t come yet.
  • A Prayer for Surrender: God, I lay down my need for control. I surrender my timelines and expectations. Let Your will be done in my life, and give me patience to wait with joy and hope.

You're Not Alone
Waiting doesn’t mean God has forgotten you, it means He’s preparing something good. Whether you're waiting for restoration, direction, or a dream to be fulfilled, remember that God is present with you in the pause. You’re not stuck. You’re being shaped.

Your wait isn’t in vain. It’s where God is planting something new.
